Dr Emma Colvert (BSC, PhD, CPsychol)

About Emma

Dr Emma Colvert (BSc (Hons), PhD, CPsychol) has worked in the field of autism since 1997.

Her interest began as an assistant Educational Psychologist and this helped form the basis of her PhD at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Since she completed her doctorate, Emma has worked at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) in London. During this time, Emma worked on several research teams and led one of the world’s largest twin studies of autism.

Emma has an exceptional and extensive publication record and has also appeared in a variety of media, including the BBC One documentary ‘Christine McGuinness: Unmasking My Autism’. You can find more information on Emma’s research and media work on our RESOURCES page.

Highly experienced in both the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, Emma has undertaken autism assessments in both research and clinical settings, and is continuing to use this knowledge in the development of further testing toolkits to improve the diagnosis of autistic women and girls – a highly specialised subject that Emma is particularly passionate about.

While Emma specialises in assessing and diagnosing autistic women, girls and AFAB individuals, her services are for everyone and she has extensive experience in undertaking assessments for all genders and age groups.

Emma’s extensive career, vast experience and passion for helping autistic people get the diagnoses and support they need provide her with an exemplary reputation within the field.
